Kelly's Zombie

AWWWWW. Poor misunderstood Zombies. Here they are... loving and caring and sweet and just want to offer up their best Eyeball Porridge. Why do the children always flee!

Am I anywhere near close with my guessed interpretation? My other question would be...are the children dressed as ghosts? My only critique would be to try and clarify the story you want to
tell. If the children are trick or treating, a pumpkin pail or masks or something like that would better explain what's going on. Otherwise, your main "mama" Zombie is beautiful and the kids (although freightened) are quite adorable.
Not the SCARIEST rendition of Zombies but definitely the cutest!!

Kelly,

The illustration looks like it came right out of a spooky children's book story. I like the drawing and the colors. The background could be tightened up a bit more and add some drop shadow underneath the kids.

I am a big fan of well done "cute" art, so this one is a favorite of mine. I agree with Paige that the story isn't terribly clear... and that makes me curious.

First, the critiques. I think it would have worked better for you to darken the back room area where the other freakies are standing. That would give the picture some depth, and make that back area a bit scarier for the kids. The two zombies presenting the yummy food are losing there lower halves due to the color blending in with the background.

Now that those are out of the way... I really like this drawing! Kids and monsters are a great combo. Your style for the children is very appealing, and their expressions are funny. I like your subtle, warm color choices.

Very nice job.

I liked the concept/story on this one. And like paige said the 'mom' zombie holding the pot came out very nice.
I think the kids could have been posed better. I thought the 2 kids on the left were running away, but looking at the placement of their feet it looks like they're sitting down. (and if they're supposed to be sitting down, why? unless they're crapping in their pants? which would make sense i guess ;))
and the other one looks like he's crawling away...I'm not sure about that one either. I think it would read easier if they were just running away, (one leg in front, the other behind them.) And the masks and trick or treat bags, like Paige mentioned, flying from their hands and faces).

very nice job!

This one is fun because it tells a story. I like the contrast between the almost peanuts looking kids in the foreground and the zombies. I kind of wish the zombies looked a bit scarier. Besides the color difference, they almost look like the kids in tone.

I like the fact this piece is telling a complete story. Again for me, I'd look mostly at the composition overall. Perhaps the kids running from the zombies are coming straight towards the viewer, with the zombies standing in the middle with their offering of goodness...
But as far as this goes for right now, probably darkening the background so we could focus in on the characters would help a great deal.
Excellent effort overall!

Mmmm....delicious treats! The question is, are the kids the treats, or are the body parts in the bowl? :D Yummy children.
For any notes, maybe go over the background one more time. The crowd behind the ladies are funny, especially the dude holding the martini.
The kids look a little odd in their cloaks. Try drawing the kids without their costumes, and then add them once the poses are drawn. Fabric is a very difficult thing to draw. Especially beds, a teacher told me drawing an unmade bed can help with keeping track of folds and different types of cloth.
Those kids are super cute, it looks like you had alot of fun with this assignment.

This has the making of a fabulous piece. I like the lighthearted mood you created here, as well as the unexpected theme.

I enjoy the delicate linework and your use of color. It reminds me of an old school childrens book etching.

The line on the left side that deliniates the floor from the wall stands out to me as being unfinished and reminds me that this was colored digitally...if I hadn't seen it I may mave been convinced it was a watercolor.
