This is very nicely executed. Second place in my book. It's clear that you've done a lot of life drawing. Good for you.

Just a note on realism in drawing. I know that many people (especially animators) will disagree with me on this, but I personally think the emphasis on life drawing goes to far.

Yes, life drawing is an excellent barometer of the artist's ability to replicate his subject. Yes, the human body is one of the most complex and intriguing subjects to draw.

BUT, who really cares?

Hear me out. When have you ever seen a piece of life drawing hanging on someone's wall? Someone who wasn't an art teacher? People don't collect books of life drawings unless they are aspiring artists themselves. Why? Because life drawing doesn't resonate well with other people. It's exercise, not creation. When people look at a piece of art, as with a piece of writing, they're not looking for what they can see for themselves, but what you, the artist, has to say about a thing. They want your interpretation of life, your unique voice. Life drawing is important to the development of your artistic skills, but is not an end to itself.

Beware the path of Boris Vallejo. That way lies madness.

This is REALLY creepy and really well drawn too. I'm scared and feel queasy and very
uncomfortable...so, job well done! I love that you kept this a lose pencil sketch...it feels right for this subject and the style of your drawing. Personally, I would have liked to see a bit of environment or something make it feel more like a completed drawing than a really nice (and creepy!) sketch.

Well done on this. Scary even.

I am a big fan of your delicate pen work. There are places like the neck where you put just enough detail to explain what's going on without overdoing it.

I too would have liked to have seen a bit more here. Maybe even finish out her upper body, with crossed arms. Overall very nice.

A nice realistic approach.

I like the technique here and the sketchy feel throughout!
If you felt comfortable stopping at just this part of the body, perhaps having added a sketchy, ornate-feeling frame around the piece would help to finish it off. I almost want to see her with an animal of some sort creeping around her...even if it's as simple as a worm or spider to complete the creepy feel.
Great piece! Keep it up!

Wow the pen work on this is very nice! My eyes focus on her eyes right away, and then to her creepy mouth! Yikes! For figure drawing, this is very good! Try having more fun with it, add some color, put a piece of paper over her and try exaggerating her even more. Figure drawing is very important, but it also helps using it too spring board off new ideas. So don't stop what you are doing, but try new things too. The drawing is good, I bet your color work and cartooning will be just as interesting!
